Yachting World: Double-handed sailing skills
As well as my own sailing campaigns, I have always worked as a coach to other sailors through my entire career. I get a lot out of coaching, I love seeing others grow and achieve their goals, and I will always come away having learned something for myself. In 2012 I wrote and presented a set of coaching videos, the first of their kind to my knowledge, called Sail Faster, Sail Safer. I had never done anything like that before. I’d not been on camera, never scripted or directed a film. But I jumped in with both feet and the resultant sailing technique videos have collectively had millions of views in the last decade. For a couple of years I’ve been thinking about updating this series. I know so much more now and filming techniques with drones are much more advanced. Finally this year I found the opportunity, teaming up with Key Yachting Ltd with filming and production once again by Ocean Images. I’m proud to present the first in a series of eight videos on short handed sailing techniques. These will be initially hosted by Yachting World and accompanied by an article in the magazine.
Big thank you to Wayne Palmer from Key Yachting for the use of the great J99 and helping to make all this happen.
You can watch all of the latest videos in the series on the Yachting World website.
