CEO/FOUNDER/SKIPPER

Pip Hare

Close your eyes and imagine a world class sailor, navigating one of the most powerful race yachts on the planet through the Southern Ocean for weeks on end. Imagine the rough ride inside the boat, travelling at the same speed as a car, lurching, crashing, thumping through waves. It is cold, wet, dangerous. The skipper is surrounded by highly technical equipment which they must understand, maintain and use to perform. On deck, they must manhandle sails which weigh over 100 kilos on a moving platform, with waves breaking over the deck.

 Are you imagining that skipper?

When you open your eyes, we bet Pip Hare is not what you expected.

 Pip Hare stands out:

  • The eighth woman in the world to EVER finish the Vendée Globe Race

  • One of the only FEMALE CEOs of an international yacht race team

  • An outright world speed sailing record holder

  • A passionate and Authentic spokesperson

  • A changemaker

Determined. Inspiring. Authentic

Whether driving our IMOCA deep in the Southern Ocean or driving our race team to the next level of international performance, Pip has demonstrated with clear outcomes, what passion, determination and genuine hard work looks like.

Following a full career in the sailing industry Pip started her first Vendée Globe Campaign and the Pip Hare Ocean Racing Team in 2018 with a bank loan of £25k and a crowd fund. Pip’s work ethic, approach to risk and clear ability to plan and deliver have allowed her to build from a one woman show to a professional team competing at the highest level of International sailing in just five years.

It has not been an easy journey. As a woman in a male dominated sport, then an older woman competing for sponsors, Pip has been told multiple times throughout her career she cannot or should not be aiming so high. This has never stopped her, in her own words, ‘If someone closes a door on me, I walk away from them and cut my own door somewhere else.  I am proud to have worked hard for every step forward we have made.‘

The result is someone who drives a business ethos that is honest, hardworking and will not accept the status quo. A team that gives opportunities to a diverse range of people with genuine paths to progression. Partnerships that are meaningful, fruitful and mutually beneficial with our sponsors.

“I love the ocean, I love the challenge and I always want to improve - and this forces me to be the best possible version of myself.”
