The boat
The backstory
Our IMOCA holds the Vendée Globe course record of 74d 3h 35m which it set as a new boat in the 2016 when the boat was Banque Populaire VIII. It raced again in the 2020 edition as Bureau Vallée and gained a third place.
This boat is fast, well built, it is a pedigree – but now three design generations of racing old.
In 2023, the Pip Hare Ocean Racing team have made an extensive refit adapting this already high performing boat to match the performance of the latest designs. We don’t believe a full carbon race boat should reach the end of its racing life after only eight years.
In June 2023 we relaunched our IMOCA with the latest design of foils – double the size of our original foils and increasing the potential boat speed by over 25%. The new boat is strong, robust, soundly capable of a top ten placing in the 2024 Vendée Globe race.
